The HEAT Loan carries the up-front cost
The other Mass Save lever is financing: the 0% HEAT Loan, separate from the rebate, spreads the project cost without interest. Ask your sponsor about current terms when you start the process; the loan runs through the same program machinery as the rebate.
How the money moves
Mass Save pays downstream, after installation. Some shops have you pay in full and wait for the check; established ones discount the invoice by the rebate and collect the reimbursement themselves. Ask which model a bidder runs before signing, and get it in writing.
Timing the project
No cliff-edge deadline forces the decision this year, and the calendar still argues for moving early.
